Epoxy and Wood. What are your thoughts? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

It’s been a little while since I’ve done an epoxy wood project. I did a small three part writeup on it HERE. It was a fun learning experience on a couple of really small charcuterie boards.

Recently though, I got the urge to try it again. This time utilizing a deeper pouring epoxy product and some really pretty walnut pieces. As I dove into this project I wanted to challenge myself with a larger pour (based on project size and overall epoxy volume) as well as utilizing a dye in the epoxy (vs a color pigment as I have in the past).

I built a mold from scratch, mixed and poured. Definitely a learning curve being away from it for a longer period of time.

I also worked on documenting the process through video. As the epoxy has cured for a week now, I plan to de-mold the setup, see how well the epoxy cured and continue documenting the process.

I’ll plan to post updates, full pictures and hopefully a well received video of the process this time around.

That’s it for now. What are your thoughts on epoxy and wood? Great combo? Big disaster? Not ideal?
